Different Genres for Games

Genre	Description	Examples
Action	Action is like car chases shoot outs wrestling etc. Stuff with fighting and other stuff which is classed as action. Example Games: Call of duty, Halo, Battle Field
Adventure	Adventure is like traveling around maps finding stuff surviving against enemies and building things to help with survival. Example Games: Minecraft, Terria, Castle Miner
Arcade	This is like simple games that are addictive and ongoing some only have one level and you just collect stuff to win or keep going till you die. Example Games: Pac Man, Tetris, Candy Crush
Puzzle	This is where you would have find and place stuff in certain places. Example Games: Tetris, Helix, Chess
Role Playing	This is where you would take the role of a certain character and do adventures and quests to decide you fate. Example Games: Skyrim, Assassins creed, Saints Row
Trivia	This is where you would have to answer questions with a right and wrong answer. Example Games: Millionaire, Deal Or No Deal, Monopoly
Sport	Sport games are now more interactive were you can actually get exercise from playing the game. Example Games: Wii Sports, Golf, Fifa
Horror	This type of genre is to try and scare or shock the player so that they are on edge as they play the game waiting for something to pop out. Example Games: Slender Man, House Of The Dead, Resident Evil

 

Shooter	Shooters are games that you go around killing people with a selection of guns and that’s the only way to win. Example Games: Time Crisis, Splinter Cell, House Of The Dead
Casino	Casino games are mostly 18+ because they involve gambling were you can earn fake money or even real money and also lose it. Example Games: Poker, Slot Machine, Coin Dozer
Racing	Racing games are simple but the aim is to get first place by using upgrades or skill and also these games can vary from cars and bikes to planes and space ships. Example Games: Forza, Need For Speed, Mario Cart

 

Impact of games in society

Social isolation

Some gamers would rather complete a level or rank up rather than go outside into the fresh air I remember one of my mates who skipped loads of school and never came out because he wanted to complete the ranks on call of duty.

Separation from reality

Sometimes people use games to get out of the real world because a game is like a dream were you are in control and everything can go how you want it which makes you happy as humans like to be in control but in the real world it is hard to do that so gaming is the only answer, but what happens when it goes too far and some people start thinking life is a game and they struggle to tell fiction from non-fiction. There was a case were a kid killed his parents here is part of the story ”Daniel Petric, 17, claimed he didn’t understand that people don’t re-spawn in real life. He shot and killed his mother, and severely wounded his father back in 2007. The parents forbid him from playing Halo 3 and as a result they ended up dead”. Education

Some games have puzzles and quests were you have to use your brain to work them out which can help you develop your concentration skills which will help you in education because “concentration is the key to success” as my teacher use to say.

Benefits

The benefits from gaming is that it improves your concentration as we’ve talked about briefly also it can improve your hand eye coordination which helps with reactions to things such as my teacher was on about somebody who turned out the way of a crash because he had good hand eye coordination which improved his reaction and his reaction time, so that improved reaction time could save your life.

Future impact of games

The future impact of games can basically draw our future as we see all this technology like flying cars, space ships etc. which we could make a reality so these vehicles and technology from a game could become a reality sometime in our future as we are influenced by what we see and read.

 



Competitiveness

competitiveness and peer pressure also link into games as a lot of people are in clans which if you don't know what that is its a group of people fighting for there name and to be the best group on that game or games so they always want better people which makes more people train on games to become better at what they do, which can also lead to the leader trying to force people to do what they want and go on when they want also people want to fit in so they also want to get involved in this as well.

 

 

 

Fun

A lot of people like to just play for fun or to kill time which is a more healthier way of gaming because you are not addicted to beating peoples scores or letting games stop you from having a social life your just enjoying yourself and passing the time, playing games just for fun is probably the easiest way also its what keeps you happy when your bored because no one likes to be bored.

 





The game I like a lot is GTA 5

Grand Theft Auto 5 has come along way from when I first played it on the PlayStation 2 with the physics, graphics and gameplay.

The Graphics
The graphics have come along way they now have that realistic effect to them as everything has been worked on a lot from the scenery and the people to the vehicles. which gives GTA 5 a very realistic effect to it that also makes the gaming experience better.

The Gameplay
GTA 5's Gameplay is at its best with fast cars, loads of stuff to do in the game like play golf, go skydiving, take out gangs etc. which makes it a good game if your just a calm person that wants to chill and play a bit of golf or a maniac that likes seeing things go bang(Like Me).or you could play RPG golf with the city that's a lot of fun :D .



 

The Physics
The physics of the game are quite realistic as when you crash in a car you can fly out of the window and if your engines cut off while your flying in a plane you can glide down to the ground safely but there are some very unrealistic parts like when you fly a cargo bob with a car attached that your friends in but they survive the fall from the highest point in the map without leaving the car but you didn't want to hurt your friend...or did you because there are rocket launchers for that sort of stuff :), but hay its only a game its got to have some unrealistic features.
